Rust and Congress have a lot in common. Both do damage, and neither of them ever sleep. We need to take urgent action today to spray a little metaphorical Rust-oleum over the latest danger area.We have told you in the past how the campaign finance laws have protected incumbents from serious challenge at the ballot box. Yesterday we described how the establishment’s reaction to Congressman Ron Paul reflects a similar intent to rig things in favor of the status quo. Today we must alert you to the latest danger to the the kind of grassroots pressure organized and exerted by groups like DownsizeDC.org.Grassroots pressure on Congress is the last remaining tool we have to control the establishment monopoly. This tool must be preserved at all costs.H.R. 2316 is the House Lobbying Reform Bill. It will come to the floor for a vote very soon, MAYBE EVEN AS SOON AS TODAY! H.R. 2093 and H.R. 984 are two amendments to that bill, both of which would regulate grassroots groups like DownsizeDC.org. The power to regulate, like the power to tax, is the power to destroy.
