I cannot stress enough the importance of this particular election. We are on the very edge of losing what is left of this nation. We are on the very edge of another pre-emptive attack upon Iran. We have lost much of our Constitutional Rights under the Patriot Act, suspension of the Writ of Habeas Corpus, John Warner National Defense Authorization Act, etc. Just exactly who is the greatest threat to our individual rights and liberty in this country? The answer will become obvious.

Unless we change course now our very Liberty, our culture, and the future of our children and their ability to grow up in a free nation, will be gone. Foreign Aid
“Our annual foreign aid bill is one of the most egregious abuses of the taxpayer I can imagine. Corruption on Capitol Hill
“Laws addressing bribery, theft, and fraud, already on the books are adequate to deal with the criminal activities associated with lobbying. New laws and regulations are unnecessary.

“Get rid of the evil tax system; the fraudulent monetary system; and the power of government to run our lives, the economy, and the world; and the Abramoff-types would be exposed for the mere gnats they are. There would be a lot less of them, since the incentives to buy politicians would be removed.”

Middle East Policy
“Practically speaking, our meddling in the Middle East has only intensified strife and conflict. American tax dollars have militarized the entire region. We give Israel about $3 billion each year, but we also give Egypt $2 billion. Most other Middle East countries get money too, some of which ends up in the hands of Palestinian terrorists. Both sides have far more military weapons as a result. Talk about adding fuel to the fire! Our foolish and unconstitutional foreign aid has produced more violence, not less.”

Deficit Spending and Social Security
“Congress [must] stop spending. When Congress outspends federal revenues, it raids Social Security funds to cover the difference. Unless Congress makes real cuts in spending – and stops spending Social Security taxes on completely unrelated programs – millions of Americans simply will not receive even a fraction of the money they paid into Social Security…”

“Under my [plan], your Social Security contributions are set aside in an interest-bearing account and cannot be spent. In other words, your Social Security account would be treated as your account and not a slush fund for Congress.”

The Military Draft
“I believe wholeheartedly that an all-volunteer military is not only sufficient for national defense, but also preferable. It is time to abolish the Selective Service System and resign military conscription to the dustbin of American history. Five hundred million dollars have been wasted on Selective Service since 1979, money that could have been returned to taxpayers or spent to improve the lives of our nation’s veterans.”

Monetary Policy
“Americans must realize that Congress, and the Federal Reserve system that permits the creation of new money by fiat, are the real culprits in the erosion of your personal savings and buying power. Congress relentlessly spends more than the Treasury collects in taxes each year, which means the U.S. government must either borrow or print money to operate – both of which cause the value of the dollar to drop. When we borrow a billion dollars every day simply to run the government, and when the Federal Reserve increases the money supply by trillions of dollars in just 15 years, we hardly can expect our dollars to increase in value.”

The NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) Superhighway
“The ultimate goal is not simply a superhighway, but an integrated North American Union – complete with a currency, a cross-national bureaucracy, and virtually borderless travel within the Union. Like the European Union, a North American Union would represent another step toward the abolition of national sovereignty altogether . . .

“The United States should not engage in the construction of a NAFTA superhighway, or enter into any agreement that advances the concept of a North American Union. I wholeheartedly support this legislation, and predict that the superhighway will become a sleeper issue in the 2008 election.”

Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions
“Rumors are flying about when, not if, Iran will be bombed by either Israel or the U.S. – possibly with nuclear weapons. Our CIA says Iran is 10 years away from producing a nuclear bomb and has no delivery system, but this does not impede our plans to keep `everything on the table’ when dealing with Iran.

“We should remember that Iran, like Iraq, is a third-world nation without a significant military. Nothing in history hints that she is likely to invade a neighboring country, let alone do anything to America or Israel. I am concerned, however, that a contrived Gulf of Tonkin-type incident may occur to gain popular support for an attack on Iran.”

Gun Control
“Tortured interpretations of the Second amendment cannot change the fact that both the letter of the amendment itself and the legislative history conclusively show that the Founders intended ordinary citizens to be armed. The notion that the Second amendment confers rights only upon organized state-run militias is preposterous; the amendment is meaningless unless it protects the gun rights of individuals.”

Universal Health Care
“The problems with our health-care system are not the result of too little government intervention, but rather too much. Contrary to the claims of many advocates of increased government regulation of health care, rising costs and red tape do not represent market failure. Rather, they represent the failure of government policies that have destroyed the health care market.

“It’s time to rethink the whole system of HMOs and managed care. This entire unnecessary level of corporatism rakes off profits and worsens the quality of care. But HMOs did not arise in the free market; they are creatures of government interference in health care dating to the 1970s. These non-market institutions have gained control over medical care through collusion between organized medicine, politicians, and drug companies, in an effort to move America toward `free’ universal health care.”

Privacy
“The history of abuse of personal information by government officials demonstrates that the only effective means of guaranteeing American’s privacy is to limit the ability of the government to collect and store information regarding a citizen’s personal matters. The only way to prevent the government from knowing this information is preventing them from using standard identifiers [such as the Social Security number].”

Tax Reform
“Most people understandably want a simpler income tax system, but it’s useless to discuss tax reform without spending reform. Who wants a 40 percent flat tax? Who wants a national sales tax if it adds 50 percent to the retail price of everything we buy? In other words, why change the tax structure if spending stays the same? Once we accept that Congress needs $2.7 trillion from us, the only question is how it will be collected.

“The current answer is the labyrinthine tax code, which pits taxpayers against each other in a political scramble to make sure the other guy pays. The truth is that Congress does not need $2.7 trillion, or anything close to it, to fund the proper constitutional functions of the federal government.

“The only tax reform needed is to lower or abolish existing taxes.”

Emergency Management
“Congress reacted to Katrina in typical Washington-knows-best fashion. It immediately appropriated over $60 billion with no planning or debate, mostly to show that government was “doing something.” Political grandstanding masqueraded as compassion.

“As with all rapid government expenditures, the money was spent badly. Every member of Congress must have known that throwing $50 billion at FEMA, the very agency that failed so badly to prepare for Katrina, would not turn out well.

“All federal aid for Katrina should have been distributed as directly as possible to local communities, rather than through wasteful middlemen like FEMA and Homeland Security.”

Two important updates and action items:
1. Calculating the Cost of amnesty
Heritage Foundation is projecting that it will cost U.S. taxpayers an estimated $2.4 TRILLION dollars to covert the retirement costs of illegal aliens who get amnesty under this new bill.
But that’s just the beginning. Each year, low-skilled illegal alien households cost our society about $20,000. That’s because low-skilled immigrant households consume 3 dollars in government services for every 1 dollar they pay in taxes (2004 — received $30,160 in govt benefits and paid just $10,573 in taxes).
Add together the annual costs, the retirement costs and the unknown costs of implementing the amnesty program and rest assured the total cost to U.S. taxpayers will be multiple trillions of dollars!
Senators like Teddy Kennedy love to spend our money. In fact, they don’t even bother to stop and estimate how much of our taxes they are spending!
2. Sen. Vitter proposes amendment to strip amnesty provisions
Sen. David Vitter has offered an amendment that would strip all of the “Z-Amnesty” provisions from the bill. Last year, he offered a similar bill that was defeated. Although we expect this amendment will also be defeated, it will help us see which senators truly oppose amnesty.

We are asking Grassfire team members to call their Senators and express your outrage over this amnesty bill — both in principle and in practical costs to the American people.

I am going to practice what I preach and pick up the phone and go after NC Senator Burr, as soon as I send this note to you.
We need polite, firm, and articulate Americans insisting on face to face time with the Senators. From the articles, these request have really rattled staff and Senators and some of them are glad that they do not have public appearances scheduled.
If you cannot get appointments to see them, we request that you join our efforts to confront them at events and if you cannot confront them, we ask you to start booing them in public! Let’s all boo the Senators! That will really get everyone’s attention, especially the sellout Senators. Even if you are the lone person booing, get those boos into the ears of Senators!
Some of you may want to start calling their offices and just saying Booo! Hisss! Boooo! Many of your more articulate messages are certainly not getting through. Your calls and e-mails are dominating the supporters of this bill over 5 to 1, but the Senate is not listening to the people of America!
We also need all of you to immediately repeat our messages in all of your communications.
The term “illegal aliens” should now be alternated with the term “Senator ______ ‘s Guest Workers”. Here in NC, the tragic news is emerging from another terrible traffic accident involving illegal aliens. NC Residents will be calling Sellout Senator Burr, to ask if these deaths were caused by “Senator Burr’s Guest Workers” and were these illegal aliens here to collect on “Senator Burr’s Amnesty?”
You need to attach illegal aliens and the terrible impact to those who are now identified as responsible for both the illegal aliens turned into Guest Workers and their terrible impact on our nation.
You MUST follow through with face to face meetings. Calls, e-mails, and faxes are great but clearly not enough. These Senators should be ashamed to show their faces in public from this point forward.
Anyone needing advice or guidance may call me directly for assistance. Only call if you need help to make these face to face meetings happen, as our lines are very busy this week.
You are the true voice of America and regardless of the fake NYT CBS polls, you speak for a majority of our citizens.

We need a counter establishment, a counter force to overwhelm and defeat this “enemy within.”The toxicity of America’s political establishment can be seen most clearly in its response to Congressman Ron Paul’s showing in the Republican presidential debates. Congressman Paul has spoken strongly for downsizing the scope and expense of The Federal Monopoly. His message has met with a warm reception from the viewers of these debates. In both the MSNBC and Fox debates Congressman Paul’s downsizing message has dominated. Congressman Paul has won the viewer polls after both debates, and he has become a big hit on the Internet. This is strong evidence that the downsizing message could triumph, if only it could be heard. The establishment knows this, and it scares them. Their fear can be seen in their response to Congressman Paul.The establishment journalists on Fox News just couldn’t wait to attack Ron Paul after the debate ended. They sneered at him. They called him an embarrassment. One Fox News reporter talked about how Republican leaders would move to restrict participation in future debates in order to eliminate Congressman Paul.Then the poll results started coming in, with Congressman Paul way out in front. Sean Hannity was shocked and offended that so many Americans would prefer Paul’s downsizing message to that of the establishment’s preferred Big Government candidates. Sean Hannity showered love and praise on the establishment candidates, but he attacked Congressman Paul, and rudely talked over him in the post debate interview. And it wasn’t just Fox News that recoiled at Paul’s downsizer message. The establishment commentators on CNN also called Congressman Paul an “embarrassment” and said he should be removed from future debates. Be under no illusions. The fix is in. The establishment will do everything it can to silence Congressman Paul’s message, lest more Americans hear it and rally to the downsizing cause. This isn’t a matter of conscious conspiracy, it is simply a matter of people being who they are and pursuing their own self interest. The establishment political cartel and the establishment media have a self-interest in promoting Big Government. And so they do . . . with a vengeance. So isn’t it important for you to plan how you will balance the scales? Don’t we need a little vengeance of our own?The partisan electoral contest is no contest at all. It is rigged, from top to bottom. It is only a matter of time before the visibility achieved by Congressman Paul in this campaign is extinguished, and then what?We need to build a counter establishment, a counter force to overwhelm and defeat the Big Government establishment that is eating out your substance. How can we do that? How can YOU do that?Shall we continue to focus on the rigged partisan electoral game, or will we strike out on a different path where we can play by fair rules and afflict real pain and real costs on our oppressors?
